"I'm a Vizsla!" JD exclaimed. "Adaptable, effective, energetic.""Pardon?" Ezra asked, raising an eyebrow.
"What the heck is a Viz what ever he said?" Vin asked.
"Its a breed of dog, Hungarian I believe," Josiah explained.
Ezra looked back at JD. "Why, Mr Dunne, do you believe you are one of these creatures?"
JD, however, wasn't listening to them but holding a totally separate conversation with Buck.
"What about you?" he asked.
Buck was still peering at his computer screen. "They could have made the text a bit bigger," he complained.
"You need glasses."
"Do not!" Buck retorted indignantly. "Here we go, I'm a oh cool! Irish Wolfhound, calm, loyal, easy going, a gentle giant."
"You, calm?! Since when?" JD spluttered.
"I can be calm."
"What the hell are you two talking about?" Vin asked.
"Dogs," the two agents responded in unison.
"That much we worked out," Ezra drawled. "The question is, why?"
"It's this cool website. You answer ten questions and it works out what kind of dog you are," JD explained.
There was little work going on in the office of Team Seven. It was four thirty on Friday, they had just closed the book on a case. Chris was in his office going over the brief for their new case.
"Sounds like fun, can you send me the link?" Vin asked.
"Sure, what about you guys?" JD looked at the other three.
"Why not?" Nathan responded.
"Is this the Russian programme, from way back in the seventies?" Josiah asked.
"Think so," JD informed him.
"It might be an interesting exercise."
"What about you Slick?" Buck asked.
"I am not a canine," Ezra stated firmly and turned back to the stock report on his screen.
There was quiet for a bit while the other three worked at their computers.
"Hey, you know I think this thing works," Nathan announced.
"You got a result?" JD asked.
"Yup, I'm a Newfoundland - a natural search and rescue dog, big, black and strong - but gentle. Usually very docile but can be bad tempered if provoked."
"That is you to a tee brother," Josiah agreed. "I'm a Bull Mastiff."
"I could have told you that," Buck observed.
"Says here, an excellent guard dog, but also gentle, loyal, dependable with kids and even playful. Stubborn, difficult to train, their power is not to be underestimated."
"Yup, that's you Preacher," Vin agreed
"Wow, it's like they met you." JD shook his head in wonder.
"Well, what do you know..." Vin's tone was definitely smug.
"Come on Junior, give, what are you?"
"Alaskan Malamute, affectionate, loyal, long memory, stubborn, loves the outdoors, needs lot of exercise. Malmutes are cool."
"It doesnt say that," JD challenged.
"No, but it's true. Come on Ez, play the game."
Ezra raised and eyebrow at Tanner, then went back to his stocks and shares.
"He's a Saluki," Buck announced. "Aloof, loyal, affectionate, trustworthy, with strong hunting instincts."
Ezra looked over at Buck, who fained innocence. "Really?"
Buck's face softened. "Yeah, Slick, really."
"Trustworthy and loyal?"
"Don't forgetter affectionate."
Ezra almost blushed. "One wonders what this perceptive system would come up with for Mr Larabee?"
"Rotweiler," Josiah suggested.
"He's too skinny. Doberman," Vin countered.
"Pitbull?" Nathan suggested.
"Too short," JD decided. "Ridgeback?"
Ezra slapped his hand down on to the desk. "I have it, our Mr Larabee is a Plott Hound."
"A what?" JD asked.
"A Plott Hound!" Vin exclaimed before his giggles turned into howls of laughter.
"What's a Plott Hound?" JD demanded.
"Like a Coonhound only bigger and no where near as nice a disposition," Josiah explained.
"They are stubborn, persistent and they will stand up to any adversary, no matter their size or numbers," Ezra explained.
"You don't mess with a Plott Hound," Vin added, when he'd got his breath back.
"Guess what? Ezra is dead on," Buck announced. "The machine agrees with him! Chris really is a Plott Hound."
Just then Chris came out of his office. His men looked up at him. Tanner was already laughing, the others were trying desperately not to join him. Then, suddenly, as one, they lost the fight. First they bust out laughing then Vin began howling.
"What is the matter with all of you?!" Chris demanded.
But they were incapable of responding.
The End
